Pinups : Pastich and Homage Photo Art
I try and recreate images and paintings using photographic processes (homage) such as making a photo art image of famous paintings, for instance "Rose" by Salvador Dali or "Last supper" by Leonardo da Vinci, where I combine many photos together and edit and stylise the photos to make a photographic homage to the painting.
Some, like "Rose" and "Last Supper" are digitally created, but some, like the homage to a painting called "Westminster" by Claude Monet or "Muchacha de Espalda" (Back of Girl) by Salvador Dali (work in progress), I will recreate using entirely photographic processes.
For the pastiche I create photo images based on either a saying, (eg a ditty from my youth we used to say while pulling petals of a flower while saying "she loves me, she loves me not"), a quotation (eg "fall off the edge of my mind")
or a poem with a dreamy meaning (eg "The distance of the Moon" by Italo Calvino).
I try to create a photographic image to depict the words.
Some are digital creations, and some are created using photographic processes.
Some are a mixture of the two.
